Wilthorpe Primary School Aim high and never give up

Year 3

Hello all

We hope you have had a restful half term and are continuing to keep safe. Underneath are the weekly plans for the week commencing 1st June. This week, there is no maths PowerPoint as the weeks work is based on the 4 operations we have looked at in the previous weeks (+, -, x, divide, can't find the divide symbol!). If you need to learn or recap any of the formal methods needed for each operation, please work through the PowerPoints from the previous weeks.

For reading, we have moved onto a new book 'Stinky Street'. This book can be found on the same website as Disgusting Denzil here - https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/?view=image&query=&type=book&age_group=Age+7-9&level=&level_select=&book_type=&series=#

Any questions please don't hesitate to contact us, and continue to send us your excellent work!

Have a great week

Mr Simmons & Mr Backhouse

Hello all

We have uploaded all the documents needed for the week. This will be the last week of work before half term where no work will be set.

For Maths on Wednesday, we have uploaded a powerpoint. This needs to be accessed through the powerpoint app and used in 'slide show' mode so it goes through the bus stop method step by step. I managed to download the app for free on my iPad and it worked. If this is an issue and you are unable to access the powerpoint properly, please let us know by the parent email address or on Twitter where we can provide an alternative for you to use.

Have a great week and stay safe.

Mr Simmons and Mr Backhouse

PS. keep up the TT Rock Stars, it has been brilliant so far!

Hello

We have uploaded the work for the week commencing the 4th of May.

Just to reiterate, there isn't an expectation that the work has to be completed, it is optional. Make sure you are not stressing yourself and your child/children out during these tough times. All we can all do is try our best to keep sane during the following weeks.

Keep sending completed work to the parents email address and to our Twitter page, it is great to see. You can send any work at all, it doesn't have to be the stuff that is set. We'd love to see any drawings/paintings/poems anything!!

Have a great week, and don't be afraid to contact us if you need any help at all; no question is a daft question.

Stay safe

Mr Simmons & Mr Backhouse

Hello all

Hope everyone is safe and well. We have uploaded the weekly plans for the week commencing the 27th April. If you have any questions about the work, or want any guidance please don't hesitate to contact us on the email provided or tweet our page. We are going to be updating our twitter more often so will be able to respond to any tweets that you send us.

Have a brilliant week everyone and continue to look after each other.

Mr Simmons & Mr Backhouse

Update - 20th April

Hello all, hope you are keeping safe and well during this difficult period. Moving forward, (as of 20th April) we are going to be setting weekly plans for your child to use during this lockdown period. As stated by Mr Tombling, this is not a requirement as yours and your child's safety is paramount, but is there to be used if you wish.

Each week we will be uploading a weekly plan with guidelines for daily Maths, English and Reading work plus one weekly topic lesson. There will be a weekly Maths powerpoint to follow to try and help teach it, plus a worksheet to do daily.

As well as the weekly plan, it is still advised that you go on Times Tables Rock Stars and The Spelling Shed to keep improving times tables and spellings. If you need a login for your child please don't hesitate to contact parents@wilthorpeprimary.co.uk and we will get you the relevant details as soon as possible. Joe Wicks is continuing to deliver PE sessions every morning at 9am, this is a brilliant way to get your child up and active on a morning (and yourselves!). David Walliams is also sharing stories daily on his website which may be of interest.

If you need any more guidance or have any questions about anything, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Most of all, please keep safe and continue to follow government guidelines.

Thanks

Mr Simmons & Mr Backhouse

Welcome to the year 3 class page. We have attached useful websites and resources underneath that can be used for home school teaching. Most of the activities attached will require a Twinkl account which is currently free for one month. We advise reading for pleasure everyday both independently and with an adult when possible. We have attached the link for Times Table Rock Stars and the Spelling shed to practise times tables and spellings on the fun games.

It is vital that your child stays active while off school. Joe Wicks (The body coach) is delivering 30 minute PE sessions live on his Youtube channel at 9am every morning. He has said that these will need minimal space so will be a fun and easy way of getting your children active each day. If possible, It is advised that your child participates in 2 of Joe's PE lessons a week, but the more the better! If the videos aren't accessible, get your child out walking, biking or anything that is active, as long as it is safe to do so and they are considering the restrictions that are in place (keeping their distance from others etc.).
