Autumn Term 'Dungeons and Dragons'.

 We will be looking at the history and features of castles and will discover who lived and worked there. During the first half term we will be focusing on castles and dungeons. We will be comparing Bolsover's ruins to currently used castles. Through our science investigations we will be exploring the properties of different materials and identifying which materials are best for different uses in the castle. Within art and design we are going to be designing and creating our own model castles and shields. In the second half term dragons will be our focus where we will be researching different animals which contain the word dragon in their name through a large variety of texts (For example Komodo dragons, Leafy Sea Dragons and Dragon flies). The children will be creating their own information fact files which will be displayed in our reading areas.

Our topic for spring term is 'Sail the Seven Seas'.

Throughout the summer term our topic will be 'The world in our fridge'.

We have PE on Thursday afternoons in Waddell and Friday afternoons in Percival, please make sure your child has their white t-shirt and black shorts/leggings/ jogging bottoms. During Covid-19 all PE sessions will be outside so please make sure your children have pumps or trainers. All jewellery must be removed, before the lesson, by the child or the parent.

Year 1 enjoy outdoor learning every week on a Wednesday afternoon. This means the children will need their wellies, coats and a spare change of clothes.

Spelling Tests are on a Wednesday morning, please make sure your child brings their spelling books every Wednesday so that they can get their next set of spellings.
