Y2 Lunar/Comet

Welcome to Comets and Lunar!

Welcome to Year 2.

Mrs L Bessell is the class teacher in Comets Class and Miss L Gill is the class teacher in Lunar Class. Our classes are supported by Mrs Burkinshaw, Mrs Summerfield, Mrs Wilcock and Mrs Bottomley.

Read on for some useful information about our classes...

PE Days...

PE days are every Monday and Tuesday. Please ensure your child brings the correct kit - plain black shorts, plain white T-shirt and black pumps or trainers.

Library Day...

This is every Wednesday for both classes. The children are using the electronic system by themselves whenever they scan a book to lend and return. Please note that they cannot take out a new book unless the previous book has been returned.

New words are given out each week for a spelling test every Thursday. Please ensure their spelling books are in school on a Thursday morning ready for this.

New homework will be set every Friday and needs to be completed and returned by the following Thursday at the latest. The homework always links to the learning we have been doing in class so it is a good way for you to find out what we have been doing and support your child.

This term our topic is ''s cold!' and we are learning all about the coldest places in the world, the animals and people who live there and famous explorers. Feel free to explore and research The Arctic and Antarctic at home and share with us in school what facts the children have discovered.

We are also going on an educational visit to Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Tuesday 6th March. Don't forget to complete the consent form and payment! Spare letters can be found outside each classroom.

Outdoor Learning...

Comets class take part in a Forest Schools & Outdoor Learning session every Thursday morning. Please remember to provide suitable, old clothing and a waterproof coat for this, along with wellies or boots. When the weather is cold, we will still be venturing outdoors so wrap up warm with extra layers, thick socks and hat and gloves!
