Welcome to Milky Way/Mars!
Class Teacher- Miss Brooks
Nursery Nurse- Mrs Blackburn
In Nursery we will have a new topic for each term. The topics are decided by taking the interests of the children and incorporating them into activities each week to provide rich learning opportunities. We will continue to focus on speaking and listening skills and there will be a range of activities to support your child in developing these. We also focus daily, on Phonics and Mathematics.
Our topic for the Autumn term was ‘Toys’ with a focus on Toy Story. The children have really enjoyed this topic!
Welcome back to our children and parents/carers, we hope that you have had a lovely Easter break! Our new topic for the Summer term is going to be 'Explorers'. For the first half term we will be using Peter Pan as our focus. We are really looking forward to introducing this topic!
Week 1: For our first week back after Easter we will be focusing on Captain Hook to introduce our new topic.
Week 2: Smee and the pirate crew.
Week 3: The lost boys.
Week 4: Peter Pan and Wendy
Week 5: Mermaids
Week 6: Crocodile
Week 7: Tinkerbell
Monday - Meerkats
Please can we ask that our meerkats are returned to school on a Monday. It is important that they are brought back the following Monday as we use our circle time on a Monday to share what each child has done.
PE- Tuesday is now our PE today and the children will be going to the hall each week to do PE.
Wednesday – Baking – we will be baking, preparing food or cooking each week. We will work with a group of children each week and every child will be encouraged to taste the food that is made, either in the setting or at home. Please ensure that we are aware of any food allergies that your child may have.
Library Bags – all children have a plastic ‘School Book Bag’, which we encourage to be used to keep school library books in. The books are in boxes on top of the shelves in the main corridor to nursery. If your child borrows a book, please write their name and book title in the blue books next to the boxes and tick when they are returned.
Sound Book Bags – some of the children in Nursery will have a red sound book bag and we give these to the children when our assessments and observations show us that each child is ready. If your child has a sound bag, please bring it back to Nursery on Wednesday of each week.
SPARE CLOTHING – we would like to ask that your child brings a bag, containing a full change of clothes, with them to Nursery. This can be kept on their peg, during their Nursery session. We do have some clothes in the Nursery but children are always happier to be changed into their own clothes should they get dirty or wet during their play. If your child borrows clothes from Nursery, please return them in a clean and wearable condition.
JEWELLERY – for health and safety reasons jewellery is not to be worn in school, including nursery, with the exception of a pair of small stud earrings.
WATER BOTTLES – Please send your child to school, each day, with a freshly filled water bottle. We ask that the bottle is clearly named and only contains water.
NAMED CLOTHING – Please ensure that all items of your child’s clothing and footwear are clearly named. This makes it much easier for missing clothing to be reunited with its rightful owner.
